What makes it feel like a halal food festival
Food samplings on the floor
Bring your appetite. Exhibitors will be offering samplings so you can taste before you buy, discover new flavours and find products you did not know were available in Atlantic Canada.
40+ halal businesses in one room
Instead of driving across the city to find one specialty shop, you can meet dozens of halal businesses in a single afternoon. Look for food producers, grocers, caterers, restaurant owners and service providers, all certified halal.
Meet the people behind the food
At a festival you buy and move on. Here you can ask where the meat comes from, who certifies it and how it is prepared. On Friday at 11:30 AM, Hanaa Rashid shares the journey of House of Halal in Halifax in her talk Meating the Need.
Learn what halal really means
On Saturday at 1:00 PM, Sheikh Mohammad Yaffa presents Halal 101: What Does Halal Mean from a Shariah Perspective. It is a great session for anyone who loves halal food and wants to understand it more deeply, Muslim or not.
Food with purpose
On Saturday at 12:15 PM, Mel Jacques of Second Harvest speaks on From Surplus to Sustenance: Unlocking Impact Through Food Rescue, a look at how good food can reach people who need it.
